Carmen Scialla

Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, Dr. Carmen Scialla’s early musical training included studies in piano, organ, and music theory.

A Magna Cum Laude graduate, Dr. Scialla received his B.M from the State University of New York at Fredonia, his M.M from The Eastman School of Music, and his Doctorate from Louisiana State University.

Dr. Scialla has enjoyed a multi-faceted musical career which has included frequent piano performances in major concert halls throughout Europe, China and the United States, appearing in solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and as featured piano soloist with orchestra. He is also a composer with numerous works published by Concordia Publishing House, The Gregorian Institute of America (GIA), Hal Leonard Co., Oregon Catholic Press, and National Music Publishers.

Previous appointments include Professor of Piano and Director of Choral Studies at Kean University of New Jersey, Director of Keyboard Studies at California University of Pennsylvania, and Professor of Piano at Arkansas State University. Currently, Dr. Scialla is Professor of Piano at Monmouth University and Music Minister for Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church in Oakland, New Jersey.

O Come, O Come to See the King

A calling to those of the day, as well as of the present to come to the manger to see the new born king. The verse–refrain structure is accentuated by a brief moment of a cappella singing on the word Alleluia, bringing this piece to a beautiful and tranquil ending.
